  • How much will my new air conditioning system cost?

The cost of a new air conditioner varies depending on the brand, model, and features that you choose. One factor that can affect the price of a new AC is installation. If you live in an older home that is not outfitted with a ductwork, we may need to build you one and that will add up to your overall cost, too. Other factors that may affect the price is the size, energy efficiency, and other advanced features. While the cost of a new AC might seem worrying, it’s important to keep in mind that this is an investment that can also bring many advantages like maximum comfort for your family, better indoor air quality, and energy efficiency.

Allianz Heating & Air offers flexible financing options that can help ease your financial burden. Call us now to learn more.

  • How often should I change or clean my filters?

Most filters require replacement every month. Although there are also some that can last up to three or six months. When changing your filter, make sure that the replacement is the same kind and size of the original one. If you have reusable filters, read the manufacturer’s instructions carefully to ensure safe cleaning.

  • Should I cover my outdoor unit in the winter?

Air conditioning systems with outdoor units are built to withstand the natural elements, so there is no need for you to cover your outdoor unit. In fact, the rain can even help clean your unit naturally.

  • Is it okay if I leave my thermostat fan running?

Having your thermostat fan turned on at all times is perfectly fine. In fact, there are even advantages to this. One is that you constantly filter the air inside your home, improving its quality. Another advantage is you get a more even temperature throughout your home.

  • Do I need to consider the type of refrigerant when buying a new AC?

In 2020, R-22 refrigerant will be phased out. This is part of the government’s effort to help reduce the depletion of the ozone layer. However, there will still be a continuous supply of recycled R-22 for homeowners who have a fully functioning AC that uses the said refrigerant. If you are buying a new AC, however, we recommend purchasing a unit with the more environmentally-friendly R-410A refrigerant.

  • How close to the outdoor unit should I plant shrubs or flowers?

Most manufacturers suggest putting at least 18 inches of distance between your outdoor unit and your plants. Your AC needs the space, so it can easily take in and exhaust air. Shrubs and other vegetation can cause an obstruction to the fans of the outdoor unit and result in loud banging noises, poor airflow, and other damages that will need professional service.

  • What size system do I need for my home?

You might have heard the phrase, “The bigger the better.” However, when it comes to getting a new AC, bigger is not necessarily better. If you have a relatively-sized home and you get a big AC, the equipment will just cause an increase in your energy bills. That is why when purchasing a new air conditioning system, it is important that you ask for assistance from a professional.

At Allianz Heating & Air, our technicians can help you determine the right size of AC for your home by considering several factors such as:

    • The size of your home
    • The climate in our area
    • Humidity level indoors
    • Insulation factors
    • Number of windows in the house
    • Number of rooms in the house
    • Number of people living in your home

We will also consider your budget and other specific preferences, so you will have an AC that is not just the right size, but is also perfect for your lifestyle and financial capabilities.
